About Harbour Price

Up before the boats. Here until dinner.

Harbour Price began as a cold store selling fish and meat at harbour prices, bought straight off the boats with no traders in between. Today it is four stores under one roof, and all of it online. This is what one of our days looks like.

A day at Harbour Price

From the boats at dawn to your table by dinner.

Our prices are low because of how we spend the day. Here it is, hour by hour, and where the savings come from along the way.

  1. 5:30 am: The canoes land. Our day starts here.

Fishermen unloading crates of fresh fish from their canoes at the harbour at dawn

Long before the doors open, the canoes come in at the harbour in Tema and Jamestown. We buy the catch right there, straight off the fishing vessels, so there is no chain of traders between the boat and our cold store.

Where the saving startsBought at source. No middlemen adding their margins.

  2. 7:00 am: Sorted, weighed, frozen.

The catch comes straight back to the cold store. It is sorted, weighed and frozen while it is still harbour-fresh, then kept cold, pack after pack, until it is packed for your order.

Stored rightNothing goes to waste, so there is no waste to price in.

  3. 9:00 am: Doors open. The market is stacked.

By opening time the farm market out front is piled with tomatoes, peppers, plantain and greens, and the grocery shelves are full. Walk in and shop all four stores under one roof, or order online and we will pick it for you.

  4. 12:00 pm: The kitchen serves lunch.

At the Hot Meals counter the trays are full: jollof, fried rice, waakye, plantain and grills, served by the scoop or packed to go. Order ahead online and it is ready to collect in about 20 minutes.

  5. 4:00 pm: Wholesale and deliveries go out cold.

Cartons leave the Coldstore Wholesale door for businesses buying in bulk, and online orders head across Accra in insulated bags. Packed cold, delivered cold: the cold chain never breaks on the way to you.

  6. 7:00 pm: Dinner is on your table.

The fish that landed at dawn is on a family table by dinner, at close to what the harbour pays. That is the whole idea: harbour-fresh quality at the best possible prices, for everyone.
